Electro-Optical Systems Engineer

A unique opportunity for a special individual who desires to turn innovative ideas into reality.

  • Will provide electro-optic engineering design, analysis, laboratory and field investigations for various projects that incorporate lasers, lenses, mirrors, spatial filters, optical detectors, fiber-optics, liquid-crystal devices, night-vision intensifiers, CCD cameras, electronic circuits, interfacing computers with laboratory equipment and data-communications equipment.
  • Responsible for developing and refining optical system conceptual designs through schematics, system illustrations and block diagrams.
  • Evaluation of hardware and procure components.
  • Generate memos, reports, and presentations that summarize analyses and experiments to be presented to the engineering team.
  • Support development of SBIR, white papers, and other proposals
  • Prior experience in writing proposals, white papers and presentations.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within a reasonable time frame.

Senior Optical Project Engineer

An exciting opportunity to create and turn state-of-the-art technology designs into commercial applications.

  • Successfully monitor all aspects of military contract R&D program performance from development and implementation of project plans to assigning and monitoring tasks to team members.
  • Perform design analyses; design and specify parts; assemble and test component, subsystems and systems.
  • Strong background in optical design and analysis software such as Zemax® and other optical design software.
  • Cultivate new business opportunities through SBIR proposals, white papers, and other proposals.

Opto-Mechanical Project Engineer

A creative opportunity for an individual to build a business within a business.

  • Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and building a business that provides opto-mechanical design expertise, beginning-to-end design and fabrication prototyping to DoD and commercial customers.
  • Requires proposing, planning, overseeing and successfully executing projects for customers.
  • Develop quotes, white papers and proposals through conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform opto-mechanical engineering oriented analyses, design, specify/procure parts, assemble, test components, subsystems, and systems.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement customer projects.
  • Cultivate new business opportunities through discussions with customers and the development of SBIR, BAA and other proposals.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret/TS security clearance within a reasonable time frame.
  • 15 years of work experience MS in Physics, Optics or Mechanical Engineering. PhD with thesis in opto-mechanical specialty preferred
  • Strong written and oral skills. Comfortable at presentations to superiors and customers using Powerpoint®
  • Strong analytical ability to develop and analyze complex opto-mechanical systems including thermal, vibration and structural analysis.
  • Strong hands-on understanding of complex opto-mechanical systems hardware, optical-to-metal interfaces, and practical optical tolerance considerations.
  • Proficient with ProEngineer Wildfire™, Microsoft Word®, Excel®, Powerpoint®, and Project®. Zemax® optical design software experience preferred.

Research Scientist

An exciting opportunity to create and turn state-of-the-art technologies into commercial applications.

The individual will work with the company’s principles to define and lead the division’s research and development efforts in the fields of free space optical laser communication systems, terahertz imaging, intensified night vision, and remote atmospheric monitoring. The successful candidate will define and monitor all aspects of military contract R&D program performance from development and implementing project plans to assigning and monitoring tasks to team members. Candidate will also perform analyses; design and specify parts; assemble and test component, subsystems and systems as well as cultivate new business opportunities through development of proposals and white papers.

  • Ph.D in Optics or in a related field such as Physics or Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in developing innovative optical systems for DoD applications.
  • Background in one or more of the following: laser communications, intensified optical imaging, Terahertz generation and detection, Lidar and atmospheric remote sensing.
  • Must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Superior written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships with leading educational and research institutes. Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
